| Jasmin Solfaghari was born in Freiburg/Germany in 1963 as daughter of German-Persian parents. After having spent the first six years of her childhood in Teheran/Iran she got her school education in Freiburg. At the age of 13 she took part in the competition "Jugend musiziert" playing traverse flute and became the 1. prize winner. During her school time she was for four years member of the "Freiburger Orchestergesellschaft". |
| In 1982 she started studying historiy of art and musicology at the university of Freiburg and gatheres/aquired her first experiences in the fields of stage direction, dramaturgy and festival organization. |
| In 1983 she took up her studies in stage directing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg
(Prof. Götz Friedrich). After her studies she worked as a freelance assistant stage director and
stage director in germany and abroad (europe) for opera and TV.
She has worked with such noted directors as Marco Arturo Marelli, Wilfried Minks, Christine Mielitz, José Montes-Baquer (TV) a.o. |
| From 1994-1998 Jasmin Solfaghari has been stage director and assistant stage director of the Hamburgische Staatsoper and has worked among others with John Dew, Harry Kupfer, Günther Krämer, Peter Mussbach, Achim Freyer, a.o. She was responsible for revivals such as: "Der Ring des Nibelungen", "Il Trittico", "Die Fledermaus", "Tristan und Isolde", a.o. |
| From 2001-2004 she was "Oberspielleiterin Musiktheater" at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven/Germany and directed there 13 productions such as "Fidelio", "Othello", "Don Giovanni", "Cosi fan tutte", a.o. |
| From 2004 to 2006 she was "Oberspielleiterin" at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. |
| With the season 2006/07 Jasmin Solfaghari is Professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig. |
